Given appropriate source imagery, an analysis of the change between two points in time can offer tremendously valuable information to an interested party. Imagery change detection can answer the questions: “where did the change occur,” “how much change occurred,” and “what kind of change occurred?” To perform change detection, each source image must be orthorectified with a high degree of accuracy to facilitate the pixel-by-pixel analysis needed for this process. The images should also be similar seasonally so as to eliminate differences due to vegetation stage, precipitation cycles, etc. Ideally, the images should be orthorectified using the same source control and DEM. At i-cubed, we have the expertise to do this work from start to finish: we can choose appropriate images, orthorectify the images, and finally perform the change detection using a wide variety of tools.
